As the weather (here at least) turns cooler, I start to turn to warmer drinks and red wines. The stuff that makes me feel all toasty.
Drinks After Dark’s exclusive cocktail Guru, Steve Kemble has created me something yummy and warm for the cold November nights.
To make:
1 oz 10 Cane Rum

An interesting tidbit popped into my inbox from USA Pears the other day, all about using fresh pears in cocktails. Some of the recipes look fantastic, and I’m always up for trying new recipes. These sound amazing. These are the first two that caught my eye, and you can find more at the USA Pears […]

Each Thursday, fancy mixologists, cocktail geeks and bartenders gather in a chat room and geek out over cocktails. They create new recipes, try and out-do one another and pretty much drink all night. All in all, it’s a pretty fantastic time.
I know this is a day late, but Kaiser Penguin had the wrap up from […]

Halloween is now about a week away. I still don’t have a costume, but I know exactly what I’ll be serving to friends on Friday night. This is the first of the Drinks After Dark Halloween Recipes - there will definitely be more!

I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for versatile spirits, and Tuaca (pronounced Two-aww-ka) fits that bill perfectly. It’s also one of the most difficult spirits to describe. Life got a little sweeter for the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver recently. More than 300 lbs of honey was harvested from the hotel’s beehives near the end of August. The Fairmont has it’s own herb garden on the 3rd floor where many of the herbs and vegetables are grown for the restaurant.
In early June, […]

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of accompanying Rebecca to the Iron Bar Competition for Gibson’s Finest Canadian Whiskey. The Vancouver event featured four of the city’s best mixologists - the four known for creating unique, and extremely original cocktails. We had Justin Tisdall from Boneta, Frank Palter from Fairmont Waterfront, Ryan Cheverie from Hamilton Street […]

It’s October first (how did that happen already??) and that means it’s time for another exclusive cocktail from Drinks After Dark’s official Cocktail Guru, Steve Kemble.
This month, Steve’s evoking a little bit of a Halloween bonfire type vibe and brings us a “Campfire Martini”. It’s pretty easy, and something the grown ups can have while […]

G’vine Gin really is simply d’vine.
Made in Cognac, France, using the green grape flower, which only blooms for two weeks in June. This is an ultra-premium gin, bridging the gap between traditional dry gin and a flavoured vodka, by softening the flavour of traditional gin because of the grape flower.
There’s touches, or notes, of nine […]
