Oh, the Shirley Temple. It’s a classic drink for the under 12 set…but what do you do when you’re old enough to have a cosmopolitan instead but still have a hankering for a maraschino cherry?
You improvise.
Well, maybe not quite “improvise”, since there are already some established recipes out there for you to try. And as if that wasn’t enough fun, there’s usually a quirky play on the original name to go along with the delightful modified version.
The Dirty Shirley
1 ounce vodka
5-6 ounces Sprite or Ginger Ale
1 ounce grenadine
1 maraschino cherry
Shirley Temple Black
1.5 ounces Johnny Walker Black
2 ounces orange juice
1 ounce grenadine
1 maraschino cherry
Now you can indulge in a childhood favorite…but with a delicious adults only twist.
