Wine…sans sugar?
Laura from Luxist talks about Chateau Thomas Winery’s recently announced an artificially sweetened line of wines…their pitch:
No Sugar, No Carbs, No Fats, No Aftertaste, No KIDDING!
Hmm…oddly enough both Laura and the article on IndyStar.com tout the wine as being “no-calorie” - but I didn’t see that anywhere on the Chateau Thomas website to confirm this or not. No comment from either publication on taste…but I would bet it’s not the same as the real deal at all (I know, look who’s being a snob now!).
Would I choose a non-fat brownie over a homemade full recipe concoction? Not a chance.
This isn’t the first time a company has attempted to de-sugar an alcoholic beverage. Last May, Bollinger unveiled a sugar-free champagne - I couldn’t find anything current about this variety still being sold today, however.
Well, good luck to Chateau Thomas and here’s hoping their wine fairs better and (more importantly) tastes better than most de-sugared/carbed/caloried diet options on the market.
